Knight Optical’s Custom-Made Tapered Homogenizing Rods for IPL Applications

Knight Optical’s extensive portfolio of optical components comprises a wide variety of Tapered Homogenizing Rods, which are particularly suitable for use with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems. Manufactured from BK7 (or equivalent) or UV Grade Fused Silica, they help to distribute light within these cosmetic laser-based devices evenly.

As the name suggests, our Tapered Homogenizing Rods can achieve homogenized illumination output from non-uniform light sources; this is thanks to their makeup. With Tapered Homogenizing Rods, a light source will enter the pipe via a series of incident angles; this formation is designed to utilise the pipe’s total internal reflection and channel the light from the entrance through to the exit of the component.
